본 연구실은 UNIST 물리학과의 허민섭 교수(이론 및 시뮬레이션)와 남인혁 교수(실험)가 공동으로 운영하며, 고출력 레이저와 플라즈마의 상호작용을 중심으로 다양한 첨단 연구를 수행하고 있습니다. 주요 연구 분야는 첨단 플라즈마 광학, 차세대 플라즈마 기반 레이저 가속기, 고출력 THz 발생, 그리고 실험실 천체물리이며, 이를 통해 우주의 극한 환경의 물리현상을 실험실에서 구현하여 이해하는 기초 연구부터 미래 가속기 및 광원 개발에 이르는 첨단 연구를 중점적으로 수행하고 있습니다.

X-Lapplas LAB is a collaborative research group in the Department of Physics at UNIST, jointly led by Prof. M. Hur and Prof. I. Nam.

​

We explore frontier plasma physics in ultra-intense laser-matter interactions and extreme plasma photonics, with applications to laboratory astrophysics.

​

Our research interests include advanced pulse compression in plasmas, compact laser-plasma accelerators, X-ray free electron lasrs, plasma-based sources of high-power THz radiation, lasers development, X-rays, Gamma rays, QED-relevant astrophysical phenomena.

We provide a unique research environment in which theory and experiment are tightly integrated and mutually reinforcing.

​

Students are trained across both theoretical and experimental research through close co-supervision in plasma physics.

​

Our curriculum is designed to develop strong physical intuition and broad research capability in laser-plasma physics and laboratory astrophysics.

Open Positions

We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral researchers, graduate students (M.S. and Ph.D. programs), and undergraduate research interns.

For undergraduate interns, monthly research scholarships are available, and the duration of the internship can be arranged flexibly. Students may participate in either theoretical or experimental research.

​

For graduate students, we provide opportunities to experience theory, simulation, and experiment before choosing a specific research direction.

​

Our group offers extensive support for domestic and international conference participation, internships at overseas partner institutions, and collaborative research opportunities.

We also provide a comprehensive and structured training program spanning theory, simulation, and experiment.
